Dark Ages

Okay people... do you know what year do we use in the IndoHogwarts timeline next term? That's right, it's 1980. Do you know what happened in the 1980? Let us list the facts (or fiction since it's based on Harry Potter fiction books series) From HPL.

Karkaroff and Dolohov captured and sent to Azkaban
Rosier and Wilkes, both Death Eaters, killed by Aurors (GF27)
Susan Bones, Draco Malfoy born
and other students of Harry's year, although some may have been born in 1979 (as Hermione was)
Dumbledore interviews Trelawney
He meets her at the Hog's Head about taking the position of Divination teacher at Hogwarts, although he is disinclined to continue teaching that subject. Trelawney makes a prophecy about a baby who will be born at the end of July, a baby who will be able to defeat the Dark Lord.

How do we know when Dudley's birthday is? Well, we know that Harry's is July 31. A week before his birthday in 1991, on July 24, Harry begins getting letters from Hogwarts. At this point, Harry is given Dudley's second bedroom, where he discovers Dudley's "month-old" video camera, broken. That camera was given to Dudley for a birthday present (PS2) on Dudley's birthday, which must therefore be about a month before July 24.

No, wait, there's more. We know that in the year Harry turned 11, Harry's birthday was on a Tuesday and Dudley's was on a Saturday. Counting back a month from Tuesday, July 24, we find that the nearest Saturday is the 23rd. So regardless of the year in which this is taking place, Dudley's birthday is almost certainly on June 23.

Snape applies for the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts; Dumbledore hires him as Potions Master instead (OP17).

In October of 1995, Snape told Umbridge that he had been teaching at Hogwarts for 14 years, but unlike McGonagall, he did not specify the month. If Snape was speaking precisely, that would mean he was hired c. 1981 but before Voldemort's fall on the last night of October. If Snape was speaking loosely, he could have been hired in November or December.

The Fidelius Charm is cast on the Potters with Peter Pettigrew as Secret Keeper.

October 31
Defeat of Voldemort
Voldemort attempts to kill Harry Potter after murdering his parents, but his spell rebounds onto him.
Voldemort, nearly dead and without physical form, retreats into the forests of Albania where he possess the bodies of various animals to survive for the next decade, waiting.
Hagrid, on Dumbledore's orders, goes to Godric's Hollow to rescue baby Harry from the ruins of the house.

November 1 (or possibly November 2)
Peter Pettigrew fakes his own death, killing twelve Muggles in the process
Sirius Black is arrested and at some point in the next few weeks is sent to Azkaban without a trial. He is 22 years old (JKR).

November 1, late evening
Hagrid delivers baby Harry to Dumbledore, who is waiting in Privet Drive to leave the baby with the Dursleys.
But there are twenty-four hours missing from the chronology of events of these two days...

November 29
Bill Weasley turns eleven
Because his birth date is November 29, Bill would have started Hogwarts in 1982, when he was almost 12 years old.

Do you see what's happening? Harry Potter is born! Yeay! Heheh.. but that's not what I'm meaning to talk about. Kalian bisa liat dan baca sendiri... The Dark Lord Rule! Yup, ini adalah golden age untuk Lord Voldemort. Orang-orang menghilang atau ditemukan mati. Pengkhianat dimana-mana. Penyusup berupa mata-mata dan/atau orang-orang yang diimperius oleh Death Eaters dimana-mana. Kalian harus saling bertukar kata sandi agar kalian tahu bahwa orang yang sedang berada di antara kalian itu benar-benar adalah orang yang sesungguhnya, tidak diimperius atau hasil ramuan polyjus.

Make a plot about this, people. This is the dark ages!

Ga perlu juga sih minta supaya Death Eaters menyerbu rumah kalian di thread rumah, menghancurkan isi rumah dan meninggalkan tanda kegelapan di thread rumah kalian (biarpun tentu saja kalian bisa request sama para Death Eaters via PM/YM) atau diculik oleh DE atau gimana-gimana gitu yang kelewat heboh. Bisa juga kalian menyentuh isu sosial politik ini lewat obrolan seru dengan teman-teman kalian di kelas PTIH (dan dapet O karena itu--pengalaman pribadi), di perpustakaan, di halaman, di kamar mandi Myrtle (sambil ngusilin Myrtle yang berisik di biliknya), di asrama, dimana-mana!

Bikin plot bersama tentang bagaimana kalian mendukung/menentang Lord Voldemort dan kroco-kroconya. And remember... it's the dark ages... people die and dissapear. You don't know who to trust.
